Burlington moved to the site in a $2 million deal with the city, which has become increasingly

interested in filling vacant buildings in recent years as various redevelopment efforts have gained

momentum. The store represents the latest in a series of developments in the area, Economic

Development Manager Joe McCarthy said.

"When you look at that area, four years ago, you had the empty Wal-Mart, an older mobile home park

and a vacant supply yard," he said. "Now you have the remodeled Burlington Coat Factory, the

Casino Fandango and the Marriott. That corridor is looking very good in the long range."
