- Carson City was ranked the third “Best Place for Artists in a 2007 report by BusinessWeek.com and Sperlings Best Places that listed U.S. cities based on the highest concentration of art establishments, the percentage of young people age 25 to 34, and population diversity.
- In 2007 Women’s Wear Daily ranked Carson City as one of the top five U.S. metro areas with the highest business retail growth.
- "The Rating Guide to Life in America's Small Cities" rated Carson City as the 19th best "metropolitan area" in the nation. The recent book “Boomtown USA” from the National Association of Industrial & Office Properties ranked Carson City in its top 50 communities in the West for the greatest opportunities for business, jobs and lifestyle and a favorite relocation spot for companies interested in low taxes, affordable housing and real estate costs and an abundant labor force.
- Carson City was named the best western historical site in Nevada by the editors and contributing writers of True West Magazine in the October 2004 issue. The issue recognized the capital city for its many historical landmarks and Old West flair.
- The Nevada State Railroad Museum houses over 60 pieces of railroad equipment from Nevada's past and is considered one of the finest regional railroad museums in the country.
- Carson City’s Western Nevada College is home to an observatory with the most powerful, state-of-the-art telescopes in northern Nevada.
- Carson City is the state capital of Nevada, which has time and again been recognized as the #1 business-friendly state in the country. This ranking is based on taxes, electricity costs, workers' compensation costs, total crime rate, right to work, number of bureaucrats, and state minimum wage.
